I have been writing online and making money with it for 12 years. Since January 23, 2007, to be exact. I have written many different types of content within these past 12 years. I started writing in 2007 for what was then called Associated Content. Then, Yahoo bought them and kept us writers on to continue to contribute to them. I was a top writer for Yahoo, making it in the Top 1,000 Contributors for four years in a row. I was also in the Hot 500 Contributors for the last few months before they stopped taking submissions from us and discontinued the Yahoo Contributor Network. It was fun while it lasted, and we even had pretty badges to showcase our achievements while being in the Top 1,000 and the Hot 500 Contributors.
They Acknowledged Me
It felt good to be acknowledged for my writing back then. Especially since I was starting out and people were reading my articles. Not to mention, I was getting paid to write those articles. I never dreamed that I would be getting paid to do something I love to do at home in my pajamas in front of my computer while watching TV.
Once Yahoo dropped the Contributor Network from their site, I branched out to find more opportunities. I figured if Yahoo was accepting my writing, then I must be good enough to also write for other sites and people and make more money. I later found Examiner and started making a monthly income writing for them. I was in the top writer’s list for the Internet category, pets, and even mental health for several months. I was writing for them for a few years, having fun while making a little bit of extra money, until they closed the site down altogether. We lost all of our articles on the site because when the site shut down, they deleted everything.
A Ton of Experience
Through the years, I would go on to write for several other websites. I even wrote for CBS Local for a little while, AXS, The Daily Voice, and a few political sites, and other news content sites. I also did content mills for a while. Anywhere that would accept my work and pay me for my writing, I would write for them for as long as I could.
Private Clients Didn’t Work Out too Well
I wrote for Inquisitr twice and several other sites such as The Urban Twist, and a lot more through the years. I then branched out to find my own private clients, but that hasn’t worked out well for me because I was ripped off so often and used and disrespected many times, I can’t trust anyone online anymore.
Get Paid to Write Articles and Blog Posts
I believe writing is a talent we are born with, but many other writers I know think it can be taught to other people. Maybe, maybe not. Who knows. As long as people are getting to work from home and still make a good living.
Working From Home
In the last few years, many people have jumped on the bandwagon and started working from home, making writing their full-time income. You don’t even have to write to make a good income from home these days. As long as you have a computer and a good, reliable Internet connection, you can do many other things from home. You can work in a call center if that is what you want to do. You can do data entry, transcription, and more. There is now more work from home jobs than there ever were before a few years ago.
However, if you want to write instead, you can find private clients, be careful with them, and write website content and blog posts for them. If you find the right client who will treat you right and pay you what you want and what you are worth, you can make great money from home as a writer.
There are too many writers working for low pay these days, and by doing this, they are sending a message to the clients that anyone will accept lower rates. Those of us who have been writing for a little while do want higher prices. We don’t want to take anything less, and we shouldn’t have to.
